(WHAS11) – A southern Indiana funeral director is in jail, charged with insurance fraud.
Richard Pyke, 42, owns RD Pyke Funeral Services in Henryville, Indiana.
Pyke was arrested Friday after an investigation that started in September 2009.
Indiana State Police say they got a call from a family member of an elderly person whose pre-paid burial insurance policy had been cashed in, allegedly by the funeral home, even though the person was still alive.
Police found eight other alleged victims of the same scheme.
Indiana State Police are asking that anyone who owns pre-paid burial insurance through RD Pyke in Henryville to contact your insurance company to make sure it hasn’t been cashed in prematurely.
